BritBox, all3media International team to expand content streaming service in US

BritBox, the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service from BBC Worldwide and ITV, has inked a new third-party deal with content creator all3media International to boost what is claimed as the biggest collection of streaming British TV in the US.

Explaining the move, the SVOD service said it was part of a plan to continue to make alliances designed to bolster an ever-growing content library with nearly 300 hours of iconic titles. The deal, announced at the latest edition of NAPTE, encompasses a host of popular UK-produced content, including crossover talent, produced by award-winning producers and headlined by the complete 20 seasons of the long-running detective series Midsomer Murders, one of the country’s leading exports. It also includes Peter Moffat’s The Village; Justice, starring Robert Pugh, who also stars in Game of Thrones; plus, comedy series Bucket and Marley’s Ghosts.

The deal also includes feature one-off films such as Emerald Falls, a Pacific & Beyond and Spider Ink Production for Ten Network, Australia, alongside Endor Productions, as well as Blue Door Adventures’ That Day We Sang, the musical drama produced for BBC Two, written and directed by multi-BAFTA Award-winner Victoria Wood, and starring Imelda Staunton and Michael Ball.

The BritBox service already offers renowned series like Poirot, Upstairs Downstairs, Miss Marple, and the complete collection of classic Doctor Who. The service also features a 'Now' feature that offers programmes shortly after their UK broadcast including QI, Strictly Come Dancing, Red Dwarf, EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

“We’re very pleased to announce this significant new deal with BritBox, which will see a wide range of premium, prime time content available on BritBox for the fans of British programming in the US,” said Maria Ishak, VP of sales North America at all3media International. “In addition, our contemporary comedy slate will get US premieres with this innovative service."

“BritBox not only has the largest number of British programmes available to stream, but an unparalleled breadth and depth of shows, so there’s truly something for everyone,” added BritBox president Soumya Sriraman. “Our deal with all3media International underlines our promise to continue to bring the best of British contemporary and classic series to our audience.”
