Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile operating unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), has expanded its VDSL vectoring network to a further one million households, enabling customers in the upgraded areas to access maximum download speeds of 100Mbps. The latest expansion brings the total number of households within Telekom’s upgraded footprint to 5.6 million in around 50 cities, and the Bonn-based telco says that a further 400,000 homes will follow by the end of next month.
The speed increases were made possible through the operator’s IP conversion and the rollout of vectoring technology, which has also enabled upload speeds of 40Mbps. Major cities that have so far benefited from the network upgrade work include Aachen, Berlin, Bonn, Dortmund, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover, Leipzig, Munich, Nuremberg, Potsdam, Stuttgart and Ulm.
