Megacable’s has beefed up its Xview over-the-top (OTT) and TV everywhere platform offering with Sony’s subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service Crackle.
Under the terms of the agreement signed by Sony Pictures Television Networks Latin America and Megacable Holdings, Xview subscribers will get access to Crackle with no extra cost.
“The partnership with Crackle is important as its exclusive content and leading TV series and films will strengthen Xview’s video-on-demand offering,” said Enrique Yamuni Robles, CEO, Megacable.
“The deal reinforces our goal to contribute to expand Megacable’s content offering so they can address their needs and meet the new consumption demands of the audience,” added José Antonio Hidalgo, VP and general manager, Sony Pictures Television Mexico.
As Crackle is integrated in Xview’s offering, the SVOD service will be initially available only through Xview’s app, but both companies have said an optimised platform will be soon released for Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox One, and Sony and Vizio smart TVs.
After an initial launch in 2016, Xview was revamped last summer and released in 22 Mexican cities. According to Megacable’s report published last October, the OTT service has already reached 127,000 subscribers.
