Bite boosts LTE-A coverage to 66%

Latvian cellco Bite has completed its 4G network upgrade, having invested EUR1.27 million (USD1.5 million) on the deployment of ‘4G+’ LTE-A technology on more than 80 base stations across 44 cities. The operator’s LTE-A network offers download speeds of between 40Mbps and 70Mbps and is now present in 67 locations via a total of 170 base stations, covering 66% of the population. Commenting on the development, a spokesperson for the cellco was quoted as saying that Bite would continue to improving its wireless broadband network, with plans to install more than a dozen 4G+ base stations in 2018: ‘Undoubtedly, the work on developing the infrastructure of the Bite network will not stop with this project. We continue to work actively on increasing the speed and capacity of the internet throughout Latvia, in order to meet the growing demands of our customers and to improve their mobile experience.’
