Dubai: The UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) published on its website information regarding service coverage interactive maps of the country’s telecom operators, etisalat and du.
This was after the Authority had instructed the operators to publish maps on their websites showing their telecom service coverage. Publishing those maps would allow customers in the UAE to choose a suitable operator based on their place of residence or work by being aware of where each operator provides its services.
The TRA’s website will allow customers to provide feedback regarding the maps, with such feedback then being communicated to operators, TRA said.
H.E. Hamad Al Mansouri, TRA’s director-general, said it was important to have coordination between all parties in the telecom sector in order to provide better services and enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness indicators.
“We are confident that this initiative makes an important addition to the series of initiatives we have undertaken at the same level, including the ‘ICT Rating’ initiative for assessing the quality of ICT services in hotels and resorts, and ‘Erteqa’ initiative for the evaluation of the service centres of Etisalat and du,” he said.
