KPITB Launches E-Ilaj-An Online Health Care Facility

E-Ilaj service, launched in the district Mansehra yesterday aims to share the burden of tertiary care hospitals. Health minister Shahram Khan revealed that they plan to expand this project in other districts soon.

This is a very good initiative and will help people to get health care facility at their door steps. Previously due to less number of doctors, Government was not able to provide doctor at every Health care Unit in KPK. In such circumstance Residents had to travel from far flung hilly areas to cities to avail medical care.

According to this pilot project, Specialized doctors will be connected to these centers via internet. KPITB has also assigned some centers for people having no internet availability. These centers can connect patients to doctors in Peshawar. The centers have diagnostic laboratory and electrocardiogram (ECG) for patients with cardiac problems.

While talking about E-Ilaj, Shahram Khan said:

This center will offer services for patients with cardiac problems, mother and child health, skin and ENT besides other issues on the spot where five specialised doctors will be offer services under one roof

Shahram added that:

There is a dire need for health care services in far-flung areas and it does not make sense for residents having to travel all the way to Mansehra to do so

This is indeed a very positive step taken by KPITB. KPK health department will mobilize staff to collect data to identify public health trends. Fast development of this Health Portal is a proof that technology can do wonders and can help government to bring reforms.
