Telecoms provider edpnet has signed up to use Proximus’ emerging FTTH network in Belgium.
Edpnet provides VDSL-based broadband services, along with fixed and mobile telephony, to consumers and businesses.
The wholesale deal with Proximus, financial details of which were not disclosed, means edpnet can tap into a pure fibre network that is set to cover 85 percent of businesses and over 50 percent of households in Belgium.
Proximus announced plans last December to invest €3 billion on upgrading its broadband network over the next 10 years.
In its Q2 financial report, released in July, the operator said the construction of an FTTH network had begun in Brussels, Antwerp and Gent. It declined to specify the number of premises that the network covers.
Proximus already offers FTTH to some businesses and said edpnet will be able to access the network from today.
