CIF set to launch FTTH plans for Utrecht

Dutch operator CIF will gradually deploy a fibre network to 12,000 addresses in the rural areas of 16 different Utrecht municipalities, in O-gen and in West Gelderland. In January, CIF will start a fibre campaign in the outer areas of the municipalities of Woudenberg, Utrechtse Heuvelrug, Veenendaal, Rhenen, Scherpenzeel, part of Barneveld and Wijk bij Duurstede.

Residents will be able to choose among five different service providers, including Caiway, CBizz, Kliksafe, Solcon and WeServe. In addition, they will pay a fixed fee of EUR 12.50 per month, or EUR 1,600 one-off charge.

CIF wants 50 percent participation in order to roll out fibre. Residents who opt for fibre services after the registration period will pay a higher one-off cost of at least EUR 995, plus management fees.

CIF expects to say where it next expects to deploy in O-gen, in January. More roll-outs will be announced before next summer.
