Although Telefónica has no video or pay-TV operation in Mexico, it has now added over-the-top (OTT) By partnering with the cloud solution provider ItsOn, the Spanish telco has revamped the Movistar On brand in Mexico along with a fully renovated digital experience.
The platform includes OTT access to the transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) service Cinépolis KLIC, Televisa’s subscription VOD service blim and a selection of live programming via streaming including ESPN, NBA and specific football content.
“Launching Movistar On in 2016 gave our customers a new digital experience that is unique in the mobile marketplace,” said Renan Leal, chief revenue officer for Telefónica Mexico. “This new and enhanced service we just launched with ItsOn allows us to compete in the Mexican mobile market beyond price.”
The on-device experience will enable Movistar On users to customise their service with bundled plans, OTT subscriptions and value-added services.
Existing or new Movistar customers with any Android or iOS device can download, install and then get onboard the Movistar On experience.
