Google debuts Android Oreo

Google’s next version of Android released on 22 August and is called “Oreo” and will soon be available for android devices. Initially, Android 8 Oreo will only be available as beta version on limited models of Pixel and Nexus devices. Google developers and Bets testing community who will sign-up for beta version will be able to experience Android Oreo beta version.

Android 8 Oreo brings major updates in notifications, extended battery life and faster devices. Google announced improvements in notification system on android devices and announced different level of notification for better users experience. Apps with notification will get a small red dot on their icon and can be seen by clicking on the icon, this will help users to get rid of annoying notifications.

Latest update also takes security seriously and takes more control over the background apps running on android device. With updates in Android Marshmallow and Android Nougat, it seems that Google in now moving similar as iOS in terms of security features. It implies more restriction on apps and their background activities on android devices. These security measures to control background apps will help to increase battery life as new update will turn apps to sleep mode if not used for some time.

Picture-In-Picture mode is major UI update and will help users in more effective multitasking, it will help users run all kind of apps in a small window at the bottom. Meanwhile, you can do other tasks in main window, this will also work while you are making video calls or taking selfies.

Other new features includes:

– Smart copy & paste

– Limiting apps to use resources while running in background

– Instant apps

– New collection of emoji, including over 60 new enoji

– WiFi Assistant to connect with high quality WiFi

Smartphone manufactures like Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo will release new version to their new flagships or possibly release this update for their existing devices. Both smartphone companies and android developers are getting ready to update their products for Android 8. Many Chinese smartphone companies has already tested Android 8 on their upcoming devices and expected to launch in 2018 with Android 8 Oreo. Whereas, Chinese apps developers are also preparing to get lead in releasing app updates with new versions.

Google partner, APUS also updated their user system for Android Oreo and will release new update of Oreo compatible user system in 2017. Other leading developers from China has also prepared upgrades for latest android 8. However, there is no specific time mentioned by Google for full release of Android Oreo 8.

As Experienced in previous updates from Google, new updates takes up-to six month to reach users. Moreover, only few devices from Google get initial updates such as Google Pixel and Google Nexus etc.
