Libyana has launched the country’s first 4G LTE network, The Libya Observer reports. Coverage is initially limited to the cities of Tripoli, Zawiya, Sabha and Misrata, although the company expects to add further locations to its footprint in the near future. The network is reportedly capable of delivering downlink transmission speeds of up to 150Mbps. TeleGeography notes that Libyana is currently the only Libyan mobile operator to offer 3G services in the country, having launched its HSDPA network in September 2006.
