Azur offers 3G+ in CAR; Gabon, Congo to follow

Azur RCA, the Central African Republic’s smallest mobile operator, has launched ‘3G+’ technology (assumed to be HSPA+) in capital city Bangui. According to Agence Ecofin, the network has been live since 5 July, and will be extended to other large cities in due course. The rollout has been undertaken by Chinese vendor Huawei, and bankrolled by a loan from the Sahel-Saharan Bank for Investment and Trade (BSIC). Going forward, Jean Bruno Obambi, president and CEO of the Azur Telecom Group, has revealed that both Azur Gabon and Azur Congo will see the introduction of 3G+ technology by end-2017.
