Vodafone Spain has announced that the total number of municipalities now covered by its 4G LTE network now stands at 4,500. Ahead of the summer season, the telco has doubled the number of beaches with LTE access, to 1,256, while the number of tourist resorts now served by 4G has jumped from 1,200 to 1,600. In terms of Vodafone’s LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) ‘4G+’ service – which delivers download speeds of 350Mbps – coverage is now available in a total of 1,019 municipalities.
Finally, Vodafone has confirmed that its 4.5G network is currently operational in central areas of Madrid and Salamanca. Going forward, 4.5G technology – which supports downlink transmission speeds of up to 700Mbps – will be extended to central areas of Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Sevilla, Bilbao, Zaragoza and A Coruna in the near future.
