Colombian broadband speed must reach minimum 25Mbps by 2019

Colombia has become one of the first countries in Latin America to require operators to offer a minimum broadband speed, set at 25Mbps by 2019. The measure was announced by ICT minister David Luna during his intervention at the CLT17 Latin American telecommunications congress held in Cartagena on Colombia's Caribbean coast. "From 01 January 2019, any service referred to as broadband must have a minimum speed of 25 megabytes per second, anything less cannot be called broadband," said Luna, according to the EFE news agency.
