Bouygues, SFR get green light to use 2.1 GHz band for LTE

French telecom regulator Arcep has approved a request from Bouygues Telecom and SFR that applies the principle of technological neutrality to their 2.1 GHz frequency licences and allow them to use the spectrum for LTE services. First allocated in 2001, the 2.1 GHz band was granted to French mobile networks for the deployment of 3G. Arcep said that Free Mobile and Orange can also request the same authorisation to amendment their licences.
