Bahrain Bus smartphone app launched

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) announced the launch of its Bahrain Bus application for smart phones at a press event held today at the Isa Town bus depot.
The new application, available on iOS and Android systems bilingually in Arabic and English, will facilitate the access of important information to all bus users as it provides information on all routes and bus stops. It also provides a "Plan your Journey" feature which shows the user all available options to reach their destination. The application also allows users to track real time bus location via live streaming, providing users will time-saving information thus reducing the waiting time at bus stops.

The app was launched event at a press event attended by Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post Affairs at MTT Mariam Ahmed Jumaan, General Manager of Bahrain Public Transport Company, Borja Bermudez and senior officials in MTT and BPTC.

Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post Affairs at MTT Mariam Ahmed Jumaan said "The Ministry aims to provide bus users with the most up-to date technology available in the public transport sector. Our new "Bahrain Bus" App provides live updated data that facilitates usage of Public Transport, on par with the latest international standards. This new service is in line with the Ministry's strategic objectives of providing a safe, accessible, high quality public transport system that adheres to global standards, and that promotes Bahrain as an ICT and business hub in the region in line with the country’s Economic Vision 2030".

The launch of the new app comes in line with the MTT’s policy of investing in technology and expanding its e-services to provide the most convenient possible service to the widest possible audience, as well as to enable the younger generation of service users to access its services.

To this end, is the newly launched app is considered the pilot version, and the Ministry will work in cooperation with the Bahrain Public Transport Company to review its user-friendliness and further develop its facilities following user feedback in future versions.
