XL Axiata to launch 4G in West Java

Indonesian mobile network operator (MNO) XL Axiata says its ongoing 4G LTE network deployment has reached Jabar, West Java, with the service being switched on in the city and suburbs of Tasikmalaya, as well as Ciamis, Garut, Sumedang, and Banjar. With the latest service expansion, the cello says the advanced mobile service is now available in almost all cities/districts in the province. To date, the MNO has installed more than 2,000 LTE base stations throughout West Java, and whilst build-out in the areas of Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Garut, Sumedang and Banjar is in the early stages, it says that already some 300 base transceiver stations (BTS) have been rolled out – a figure that is set to rise in the near term as XL Axiata expands its nationwide presence. The cellco intends to continue the national deployment of transmission, backhaul, network modernisation and upgrades to support increased data traffic and says that currently, its 4G signal is live in 245 cities/districts and being used by more than 15 million of its subscribers. By the end of 2017 XL Axiata targets reaching 330 cities/districts with 4G LTE service supported by a total of more than 17,000 4G BTS.
