State-owned communications operator Arsat will be launching a public tender to install LTE antennas on 1,400 of its operational sites in Argentina, reports local daily La Nacion. The aim is to boost mobile coverage in large and small cities throughout the country and connect the antennas to the Federal Fibre Optic Network (Refefo) managed by Arsat, said the report. The number of installed 4G base stations in Argentina increased from just 1,416 in May 2015 to 11,982 at the end of March 2017, according to a recent update from communications regulator Enacom.
