Turk Telekom has issued a regulatory disclosure confirming that its wholly owned mobile subsidiary Avea – in association with Vodafone Turkey – has been awarded a tender to establish and operate mobile infrastructure in 1,472 locations currently lacking wireless connectivity. The partnership submitted the lowest bid for the tender, which was valued at TRY1.6 billion (USD449.3 million). A formal agreement will be signed with the Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communication after the completion of legal procedures. Further, the rollout must be completed within a three-year time-frame.
