Open Fiber launches FTTH in Naples

Italian wholesale ISP Open Fiber has launched its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the city of Naples, its ninth live market launch. Internet access at speeds of up to 1Gbps is currently available to around 10,500 premises, though the firm says it will be investing EUR100 million (USD107 million) over the next two years to expand its footprint across the city. Services are being marketed by retail partners Wind-Tre and Vodafone Italy. Open Fiber, which is backed by utility group Enel and state investment firm Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), already has live FTTH networks in Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Catania, Milan, Perugia, Turin and Venice, and is planning launches in Florence, Genoa, Padua and Palermo.
