Russian mobile operator upgrades LTE network

Russian mobile operator MTS has begun commercial operation of its upgraded LTE network in the city and region of Moscow. Carrier aggregation technology has enabled it to aggregate the 1,800 MHz and 2,500 MHz bands, making services available at up to 90 Mbps. The grid is based on equipment from Nokia.

Service reception is still limited by the lack of end-user devices supporting LTE via this technology. The Samsung S8 and S8 Plus smartphones are compliant, as are certain models from Xiaomi and Net Gear routers, and are now on sale at MTS shops.
