TRAI offers Mycall App to rate call quality

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) will introduce soon a new App that allows subscribers to rate the service quality of a telephone call. This ‘Mycall’ App will be available by the end of this month.

Trai chairman RS Sharma has announced on Friday, that the ‘MyCall’ app will run on a group sourcing platform, where the users will be able to choose the number of calls they want to rate. A star rating of five would improve simply excellent quality.

Sharma said that the data on Trai’s analytics portal has information rates, lower wise call drop rate and power, and network utilization and that on MySpeed app would be made possible for third individual use, such as researchers and other agencies.

According to the recent report which showed by the telecom department, that call drops had come down by 7% points between December 2016 and March 2017. But the Minister told about the issue needs constant monitoring.

For call quality estimation, the app will have different parameter disclosures as well as settings. For example, consumers will be ready to decide whether they want to rate all calls or % of that, and when they do time, they will have to reveal either it is indoors, outdoors or define the geographic location.

The Telecommunications Department has also set up an automatic call system which gets random calls to subscribers to monitor the status of call drops. Sinha has said the system is supporting the government identifies the blocked spots in fields that do not track mobile signals or get weak ones.
