Airtel Lanka teams up with Gemalto to bolster internet service

Daily Mirror Lanka writes that mobile operator Bharti Airtel Lanka has selected Gemalto’s LinqUs Device Management platform to improve the experience of its smartphone users who have reported experiencing interruptions to their internet service. The Gemalto upgrade allows the cellco to automatically detect and configure the majority of its subscriber devices automatically without human intervention, thus allowing users to enjoy uninterrupted access to their favourite internet sites. The LinqUs Device Management platform is purportedly one of the most advanced in the world, boasting an archive of around 100,000 device references, which is constantly being upgraded and includes ‘the latest local, and even non-branded models not recognised by GSMA’.

CEO and MD at Bharti Airtel Lanka Jinesh Hegde said: ‘Youth are always the early adopters of any trend, it is the same with smart phone devices. However, we find that a lot of them experience interruptions to their internet services because networks fail to correctly identify the type of device and device settings. With this service we will be able to offer uninterrupted services regardless to the kind of device upgrade. Thus allowing our customers to experience 40% faster internet.’
