Monaco Telecom (MT) is in the process of launching an upgrade of its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) mobile network with connection speeds of up to 1Gbps in partnership with vendor Huawei. MT’s LTE-A network currently covers 100% of the principality and the new 1Gbps connection speeds are a key advancement towards 5G. MT’s spectrum now uses carrier aggregation (CA) of the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands, in conjunction with 4×4 Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) and 256 QAM functionality.
MT is the sole mobile network operator (MNO) in Monaco and according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, the telecoms company first launched LTE-A services in January 2015.
