Since the country launched the Plan Federal de Internet, 394 contracts have been signed with ISPs, cooperatives and cablecos with no access to terrestrial IP connectivity.
Arsat is working as a wholesaler, building and managing the core network – of which over 20,000km is operational – while operators have to complete the last mile and deliver commercial offers to end users.
According to Government estimations, the average price of the Mbps has decreased by 50% across the country thanks to the Plan Federal de Internet.
“Such a commercial milestone enables us to near our goal of bringing high speed connectivity to over 1,300 towns across the country and reduce the digital gap,” said Rodrigo de Loredo, president, Arsat. “Sales agreements reached through our commercial management make Arsat one of the few public companies in the country which doesn’t need extra public funding.”
