Police introduces digital database in Pakistan

All 712 police stations in Punjab have gone digital under auspices of Punjab Information Technology Board and Punjab Police, TechJuice reported on Sunday.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif, Inspector General of Police among other dignitaries inaugurated the advancement at Central Police Office in Lahore.

Digital systems have been introduced in all 36 districts of Punjab. Following are some of the institutional reforms:

Information Technology experts will be running reception desks at the police stations.

Complaint Management System: Identification of criminals using biometric system. Tenant Registration System and Hotel Eye.

Operational Media Centre: Police can be directed to take action by law and order monitoring

A fresh complaint centre: 8787

CCTV monitoring of five cities

IGP Monitoring Cell: To oversee IT-related affairs of the police

On the occasion, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif urged the top police officials to help change the misconceptions about the department and make efforts for promotion of a better image.

The premier urged governments of other provinces to emulate the technological advancement such as Punjab Police.
