MTS Belarus extends 4G LTE to eight more regional centres

Mobile network operator (MNO) MTS has announced that it has extended the reach of its in-deployment 4G network to the regional centres of Borisov, Braslav, Marina Gorka, Orsha, Soligorsk, Uzda, Cherven and Berezino. To support the rollout and drive take-up, it says that people living in the above areas will each receive a bonus 40GB of data downloads on signing up to its LTE service. The promotion runs throughout the spring it added, and forms part of a push to extend its 4G signal across the Republic.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, last month the MNO expanded its 4G LTE network to the cities of Mozyr and Kalinkovichi (both Gomel region), Lida (Grodna region) and Pinsk (Polesia region), again offering a 40GB data ‘gift’ upon registering at an MTS Belarus retail outlet, with the network promising peak download speeds of 112Mbps. MTS Belarus has more than 520,000 people using 4G, adding that the service – carried over the networks of Belarusian Cloud Technologies (beCloud), which owns a 15-year licence to operate 4G LTE infrastructure in the Republic – now serves around 30 cities and towns, including the capital Minsk and settlements in the Minsk region, all regional centres, and the towns of Dobrush, Molodechno, Smolevichi and Shklov.
