Russian mobile operators Megafon and Beeline have completed the deployment of 1,300 shared base stations in ten regions. The base stations were built under their agreement on the joint development of the LTE network in regions.
Expenses for the deployment have been shared by the operators, enabling them to halve the capital expenditure for the LTE development. Most of the new base stations, using 1,800 MHz spectrum, were built in the Archangel, Bryansk, Belgorod and Voronezh regions.
The RAN-sharing agreement in ten regions was signed by the operators in the beginning of 2016 and is valid for seven years.
