Air Telecom renamed Nordic Telecom

Czech virtual operator Air Telecom is changing its name to Nordic Telecom. It will drop the brands U:fon and Air Telecom, and only operate under the new name Nordic Telecom. The name is derived from the investment group Nordic Investors, which partnered with Air Telecom in 2016. The group plans to invest hundreds of millions of Czech crowns into its own infrastructure. Already in 2018 there should be LTE available via partner contracts of the operator.

Its current portfolio of products includes fixed lines and mobile data via a CDMA network covering 85 percent of the population, mobile voice and data services provided via a partner GSM network and fixed internet access via ADSL.

The main change is expected in the first quarter of 2018, when the existing CDMA network will be transformed into LTE technology, which will allow to Nordic Telecom to provide mobile internet at several times faster speeds.

Now the company offers the cheapest mobile internet in the market, for CZK 298 a month, but is limited by the network technology allowing a maximum speed of 3.1 Mbps. After the transition to LTE the speed will be several times higher, said Libor Dockalek, General Director of Air Telecom. Nordic Telecom sees potential also in IoT and synergies with other activities of the group Nordic Investors, such as the project Zdravel.

Nordic Telecom also introduced limited-time promotion on wireless fixed lines and unlimited mobile internet. The promotional price of CZK 289 (discounted by CZK 100 compared to standard price) is valid until the end of March and applies for 24-month contracts.

For mobile internet from Nordic Telecom, the customer needs a special receiver. Nordic Telecom offers a portable mini WiFi router (Nexpring NH200M), which is battery operated with an option to connect an external antenna. It costs either CZK 2,988 when bought separately or a subsidised price of CZK 988 with a 24-month contract.

Nordic Telecom also offers the cheapest fixed line in the market. The service Cheap Fixed Line Maxi costs CZK 198 a month with a 24-month contract. To the tariff customers can add a black Olive V-FC9300 phone for CZK 98 with a 24-month commitment or for CZK 3,488 when ordered without a service.
