Global technology leader Honeywell is highlighting the important impact the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and big data will have on the development of Egypt’s growing oil and gas sector at the ongoing Egypt Petroleum Show (Egyps).
This comes at a time when the advancement of the oil and gas industry is playing an essential role in Egypt’s plans for economic development, said a statement from the company.
The IIoT represents a digital transformation of manufacturing that shifts the source of competitive advantage away from physical machinery and towards information.
By delivering meaningful information where and when it’s needed most across the enterprise, IIoT opens up new possibilities for safety, productivity, organizational responsiveness and ultimately, profitability.
“Honeywell is proud to have worked on some of Egypt’s most significant energy and infrastructure projects since the 1960s,” remarked Khaled Hashem, president, Honeywell Egypt.
“Today, we can optimize existing automation investments by leveraging infrastructure that’s already in place, through our ready-to-deploy technology. IIoT and big data will have a significant impact on creating improved efficiency and connectivity for Egypt’s oil and gas industry, and we are committed to helping our customers create value and minimize downtime through this digital transformation,” he added.
Honeywell’s vast technology portfolio spans refining and petrochemical technologies, catalysts, process and control systems, renewable fuels and chemicals, specialty materials, industrial safety equipment, fire, gas and smoke detection products.
Besides this, it is also a key provider of home and industrial security products, scanning and warehouse logistics solutions, cockpit controls, mechanical components and connectivity systems for aircraft, automotive turbochargers, and building management systems.
Evangelos Alepochoritis, sales director for Mena region at Honeywell Process Solutions, said: "IIoT technologies can help keep operations running smoothly and safely as they offer integrated end-to-end solutions across operations and processes."
"Data analytics are a key component of IIoT, and are viable solutions to a cycle of problems that often lead to downtime and lost revenue. If Egypt’s oil and gas industries adopt strategic approaches to utilizing data related analytics, signifcant benefits such as improved connectivity can be achieved," he stated.
According to him, Honeywell has been providing leading automation technologies that help manufacturers meet their goals. "The IIoT is the next step in that evolution," he added.
