Sameh Sabry, Egypt’s general manager for Unicom Trade, the dealership and distributor of FreeTel phones in Egypt, said that the company intends to acquire a 5% share of the mobile phones market in 2017.
Sabry told Daily News Egypt that the competition in Egypt is not easy, adding that the company aims to meet the needs of the Egyptian market, with regards to the specification of its phones and prices.
Unicom Distribution said launching FreeTel smartphones in Egypt will strengthen the new, exclusive partnership signed between the two companies and will ensure the availability of the FreeTel handsets across the country for every potential user seeking a Japanese high-quality smartphone with a premium design and an affordable price. The companies aim to launch the array of smartphones in the Egyptian market by the end of March 2017. Furthermore, Unicom Distribution manages and operates Proserve, the after-sales service centres across Egypt and will provide any assistance and repairs needed for FreeTel products.
FreeTel, the top smartphone brand in Japan, chose Egypt as their first market launch in the Middle East through partnering with Unicom Distribution, a leading distributor of mobile brands in the region. Unicom has an extensive distribution network in Egypt and has strategic partnerships with major organised retailers and independent retail channels.
