PLDT targets 4.4 million homes for FTTH Coverage In 2017

PLDT Inc (PSE: TEL) has just announced an aggressive push into the home Internet market with the help of its product, PLDT Fibr. The company says it looks to supply its ultra-fast Internet connection via its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service to as much as 4.4 million homes by the end of 2017.

Deliver fast Internet connection everywhere throughout the country

"We are stepping up our efforts to deliver unrivaled internet services to more homes in various parts of the country, from the Ilocos provinces in the North to Zamboanga in the South," PLDT Chairman and Chief executive officer (CEO) Manuel Pangilinan said in a statement. The company's main goal is to be able to reach as much as 80 percent of the fixed line network during 2017, which accounts for about 4.4 million homes.

This ultra-fast Internet connection service will be delivered to one of PLDT's core products, the PLDT HOME Fibr. It is said to be "the country's most powerful broadband" that is capable of delivering speeds of up to one gigabit per second (Gbps). The company also promises equal upload and download speeds when subscribers avail of the service.

Several Plans Available For PLDT Home Fibr

Currently, PLDT offers three Fibr Plans for homes throughout the Philippines. The lowest is the Fibr Plan 1699, which offers speeds of up to 5 megabits per second (Mbps). On the other hand, there are also two kinds of Fibr Plan 1899. One offers speeds up to 20 Mbps and the other plan offers speeds up to 50 Mbps with an 80 GB volume allowance given per month.

At the same time, PLDT Home Fibr also offers the Power Plus Plan 2899 that offers speeds of up to 50 Mbps. Meanwhile, the Power Plus Plan 3499 offers speeds of up to 50 Mbps, and it also comes with the Cignal Digital TV Channels service. These add-ons are exactly what PLDT First Vice President (FVP) and Home Operations head Oscar Enrico Reyes said would give PLDT Home Fibr subscribers greater advantage in the market since customers can readily take advantage of other services that are perfect for their family.

"PLDT Home Fibr also provides a more robust platform for a growing range of Smart Home services," Reyes explained. "For example, home security services such as FamCam, the monitoring device that makes it possible for parents to watch over their family wherever they are, as well as FamZone, which allows them to keep their children safe online."

PLDT Home Fibr is currently available in Makati City, Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, Quezon City, Muntinlupa City, Parañaque City, Quezon City, Taguig City and San Juan City.
