Globe Telecom eyes 2 million broadband homes

Globe Telecom has revealed its broadband rollout programme is on track, with the telco confident of reaching its goal of supplying two million homes with a minimum 10Mbps broadband connection by 2020. The country’s number two operator is engaged in a phased deployment, targeting expansion on a region-by-region basis, and currently provides connectivity to more than 260,000 homes in select areas of Quezon City, Cebu, Davao, Binondo, Manila and soon, in Cauayan City, Isabela.

With prices for its Globe Broadband Plan 1299 starting from PHP1,299 (USD26.2) per month, Globe President & CEO Ernest Cu said: ‘We are catching up on the deployment of infrastructure for home broadband, after focusing on mobile for many years. Globe is accelerating home broadband deployment and plans to roll out 400,000 ultra-fast broadband lines by end 2017. Progressive rollouts will be done within the next three years until 2020 to serve at least two million homes.’
