Vodafone Germany has revealed that it is now able to offer 400Mbps cable broadband speeds to six million homes across the country. The UK-owned fixed and mobile operator says that its high speed HFC cable footprint currently reaches 13 federal states, adding that 93% of homes passed in those areas are able to access maximum downstream speeds of 200Mbps.
In a separate development, Vodafone has begun offering its first smartphone, the Xperia XZ from Sony, supporting ‘Vodafone Crystal Clear’ technology to improve the voice quality on its mobile network. The new service, which is based on Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) technology, has already been enabled across the company’s entire 4G LTE network and is available free of charge via a firmware update. In early 2017 Vodafone says that other smartphones will become compatible with Vodafone Crystal Clear, including the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
