NMDA Mobile Expo to open on December 29

Kathmandu, Nepal: The Nepal Mobile Distributor Association is organising NMDA Mobile Expo 2016 from December 29 at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall.

Cell phone lovers will be able to obtain a wide range of information during the five-day fair that will bring importers, distributors and retailers of mobile phones under a single roof, said the organiser.

The fair will host 130 stalls showcasing mobile sets from 16 companies. Meanwhile, more than 50 experts related to the sector will be on hand to provide information to the visitors. Raghu Tripathi, general secretary of the association, said there would be separate pavilions for importers, distributors and retailers at the exhibition.

Speaking at a programme organised on Sunday, Tripathi said, “The team of experts will advise visitors how to get the most out of their mobile sets besides providing solutions to problems that they may be having with their sets. The expo will be the first of its kind.”

He added that visitors could receive information about mobile apps from the related desk. “Users will be able to download and run the appropriate mobile apps which match their requirements.”

Likewise, users who are unaware of the range of functions available on their smartphones can get information so that they can use their sets to the fullest. Currently, many mobile phone users have been complaining about their sets getting hanged frequently. The expo will offer consultant services to help them resolve their problems.

Moreover, the fair will offer a wide range of mobile sets at reasonable prices. About 60 percent of the retail stalls at the fair will be from the New Road area while the rest will be from Patan, Bhaktapur, Balaju and Chabahil, said the organiser.

The latest mobile phone technology, food stalls and a video game zone will be added attractions at the exhibition.

As per the organiser, there are 33 mobile phone importers in the country. Likewise, an estimated 500 distributors and 4,000 retailers are engaged in the business. The industry has an annual turnover of Rs24 billion.

The organiser expects a footfall of 250,000 and sales of Rs150 million during the five-day expo.
