TIM Brasil notches up 1,000th 4G location

TIM Participacoes (TIM Brasil) has announced that its 4G LTE network now spans a total of 1,000 locations, following its launch on Fernando de Noronha, an archipelago of 21 islands and islets in the Atlantic Ocean. Previously, at the end of 2015 the cellco claimed 4G coverage of 411 cities, while going forward it aims to cover a total of 2,000 cities – equivalent to 90% of the urban population – by the end of 2017.

Stefano De Angelis, president of TIM Brasil, commented: ‘Having Fernando de Noronha as the thousandth city to host our fourth generation network – already completing the goal set for 2016 – is quite significant. We offer the best network infrastructure, with the combination of three different frequencies [700MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz] to increase the capacity and quality to users.’
