Vodafone India extends bill due date to Nov 15 following govt's demonetization call

Telecom company Vodafone will extend the due date of its bill payment to November 15, the company told its customers via a text message.

The company made this call after PM Narenda Modi, in a televised address to the nation, announced the removal of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes effective from November 8, with new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes soon coming into the system. While temporary withdrawal limits have been imposed for people, banks and ATMs remained shut on Wednesday and ATMs would remain shut on Thursday too, for retail operations, This will take place, while the now-invalid notes are being pulled out of the system and replaced with lower denominations like Rs 50 and Rs 100 notes.

Modi announced a 50-day window from November 10 to December 30 for those having these notes to deposit them in their bank and post office accounts.
