Personal now offering LTE in more than 50 locations

Paraguayan mobile operator Personal has expanded its 4G coverage significantly, despite an ongoing issue with the National Telecommunications Commission (Consejo Nacional de Telecomunicaciones, Conatel) regarding the validity of its 1900MHz LTE launch late last year. As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Personal opted out of the regulator’s 1700MHz/2100MHz AWS spectrum auction in December 2015, and then activated a 1900MHz network in capital Asuncion just days later.

According to an updated coverage map provided by the cellco, the 4G network is now available in more than 50 towns and cities, namely: Asuncion, Concepcion, Horqueta, Loreto, Santani, San Pedro del Ycuamandyyu, Santa Rosa del Aguaray, Caacupe, Tobati, San Bernardino, Villarrica, Caaguazu, Coronel Oviedo, Estigarribia, Encarnacion, Cambyreta, San Ignacio, Ayolas, San Juan Bautista, Paraguari, Carapegua, Ciudad del Este, Hernandarias, Presidente Franco, Minga Guazu, Santa Rita, Juan E. Augusto Saldivar, Ita, Ypacarai, Itaugua, Pilar, Salto del Guaira, Curuguaty, Villa Hayes, Eusebio Ayala, Piribebuy, San Jose de los Arroyos and Yaguaron.
