Ooredoo introduces Unified Roaming rates

Enhancing communication between the countries of the GCC, and complying with the Oman Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) requirement for a common regional roaming price structure, Ooredoo has unified its tariffs for customers travelling to GCC countries with the introduction of their ‘GCC One Region One Tariff’.

A permanent adjustment effective from 1 April, the new simple and straightforward roaming structure offers all Ooredoo Shahry and Mousbak customers, the same standard rate for local roaming calls, data and SMS whichever GCC country they travel to and whichever operator they use. Always looking to deliver the best value possible, Ooredoo has not only simplified its roaming structure but reduced the cost of local calls, calls back to Oman, data and SMS messages within the GCC.

“Developed in the spirit of mutual cooperation with our neighbours, ‘One Region One Tariff’ is a great boost for travellers to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. It is now easier and cheaper than ever to keep in touch with the office via email, family on the phone, or friends on social media,” said Feras Al Shaikh, Director of Consumer Sales.

Courtesy of ‘GCC One Region One Tariff’ Ooredoo customers will now be able to make local calls during their travels for 100 Baizas a minute and SMS will be charged at just 31 Baizas. Travellers to the GCC will also be able to access data at the greatly reduced rate of 500 Baizas per MB. Receiving calls from home will cost just 135 Baizas per minute. Ooredoo customers do not need to worry about opting in to the ‘One Region One Tariff’ as charges will be applied automatically.

Of course, for travellers who prefer to opt for a bundle for travel, Ooredoo has the Musafir UAE and Musafir GCC plans, which provide fantastic data allowances and reinforces Ooredoo’s strategy of providing outstanding value wherever its customers are. However, for those who prefer to roam without opting into a bundle, there will be significant benefits from the new ‘One Region One Tariff’ rates.
