Ooredoo Maldives relocates submarine cable landing

Ooredoo Maldives has successfully completed the relocation of its international submarine cable link in Male', in order to support the ongoing bridge project by the government of Maldives. The submarine cable project was carried out without any service disruptions for Ooredoo customers, through the backup strategy and microwave network. The MVR 13 million project was initiated on 30 March upon request by the Ministry of Housing and Environment, as the submarine cable was situated along the construction path of the newly proposed bridge to connect Male' and Hulhule'.

Ooredoo is currently working on establishing a nationwide submarine cable, from the north to south of the Maldives, in order to provide high-speed broadband internet services across the nation. With the issue of an ISP license to the company in 2015, Ooredoo will soon be introducing fixed-line internet services in the Maldives.
