Bitflux selects Alepo platform to launch wholesale 4G LTE network in Nigeria

Bitflux, the Nigerian consortium which secured a national 2.3GHz spectrum licence in February 2014, has selected Alepo’s convergent charging, billing, policy control and CRM solution to launch a wholesale LTE data network in the West African nation. Alepo’s complete LTE solution will enable Bitflux to operate as a mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE), supporting multiple MVNO operations on a single hosted platform. With Alepo’s LTE solution, Bitflux will be able to create, deliver and monetise new LTE data services and business models and compete in Nigeria’s rapidly developing telecoms market.

A consortium of Bitcom Systems and Superflux International, Bitflux emerged as the winner of the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC’s) ‘Wholesale Wireless Access Service Licence’ auction in February 2014 with a bid of USD23.251 million, beating Globacom’s offer of USD23.050 million. The 30MHz block of 2.3GHz spectrum will be used to provide wholesale wireless broadband access services to ISPs and other retail telecoms service providers, which in turn will offer retail internet services to consumers. In October 2015 Bitflux revealed that its 4G LTE network was ready in ‘a controlled area in Lagos’, with services said to be live in some parts of the city.
