Reliance Jio, owned by Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, plans to launch a video-on-demand (VOD) and live TV service in April.
The service, dubbed Jio On Demand, will be launched nationwide for the company’s Infocom 4G mobile subscribers, and offer more than 450 channels and a ‘versatile’ content catalogue, according to Indiantelevision.com.
The iOS and Android-based VOD app is already available for Reliance employees and privileged consumers, the publication reports.
When launched, Jio On Demand will follow the company’s social networking service Jio Chat to market as well as the soon-to-launch Jio Money, a digital wallet service provided with the State Bank of India (SBI).
