South Korea’s Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) services served 12.49 million subscribers as of November 2015, up 16.8% from 10.69 million a year before.
The data, gathered by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, shows how popular IPTV services have become since their launch in 2008.
The IPTV subscriber base in South Korea was 3.66 million in 2010 and 6.54 million in 2012, and surpassed the ten million mark in 2014, according to the report by Yonhap.
It is estimated that IPTV customers will surpass the 13 million level in March 2016, given the average growth of 150,000 per month, said the news agency.
As of November 2015, fixed line operator KT Corp had 5.5 million IPTV subscribers, followed by SK Broadband Co with 3.43 million and LG Uplus Corp with 2.55 million.
