Global in-building wireless market is set to more than double in revenue by 2020, with the market anticipated to top $9 billion by 2020, according to ABI Research.
The research firm predicts that North American activity will drive the overall market, with Europe and Asia-Pacific regions working to pick up the pace during 2016.
Nick Marshall, research director at ABI Research, said North America will continue to be the region with the most Distributed Antenna System spend.
“Sports venues, transportation and healthcare will continue to be the verticals that attract the most DAS investment, with shopping malls and hospitality coming in at a close second place,” he explained.
Together, North America’s sports venue, transportation and healthcare verticals account for just under half of DAS spending as major mobile network operators, such as Verizon Wireless, AT&T and neutral host providers, continue to deploy systems in these verticals.
The Asia-Pacific and European regions then consecutively follow North America in market size.
“While the Asia-Pacific region today accounts for just one fifth of the total market, we forecast it to be the fastest growing region and to represent almost one third of the market by 2020,” continued Marshall.
“China dominates the region’s activity, and while CAPEX today is targeted to TD-LTE and 4G macro deployments, in-building wireless deployments will slow as infrastructure capex spend shifts toward the newly formed China Tower Company. With this analysis, we predict that the in-building wireless market will return to growth in the second half of 2016.”
ABI Research forecasts in-building wireless market revenue by region, vertical, system type and component type, with more than 120 charts, tables and pivot tables. The component types included in the forecast are cabling, repeaters, antennas, active and passive DAS head ends, remotes and DAS trays.
