Singapore's M1 has launched a new unlimited in-flight data roaming service covering 18 airlines and available as both a subscription and pay-per-use service.
The service will offer connections to M1's preferred in-flight network OnAir with consumption costs capped at S$25 ($17.71) per day for subscription customers.
It covers airlines including Singapore Airlines, British Airways and Qatar Airways, and comes with a network lock feature intended to protect customers from bill shock through accidentally using a non-preferred network.
Data consumption will be charged at S$0.20 per 10KB capped at S$25 per day for roaming subscription customers and S$0.24 per 10KB capped at S$30 per day for pay-per-use customers.
“Now we can stay connected wherever we go, even while in the air. With our affordable in-flight data roaming service, travellers can stay in touch with their loved ones, answer important e-mail or simply get the latest social media updates,” M1 chief marketing officer P Subramaniam said.
The other airlines covered under the service are Aeroflot, Oman Air, AZAL, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, Royal Jordanian, Egypt Air, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Kuwait Airways, Iberia, Thai Airways, Libyan Airlines and Sri Lankan Airlines.
