Uzbekistan plans to carry out nine large investment projects focused on internet expansion by 2020, reports Gazeta.uz. The projects have been included in the special programme on ICT development for 2015-2019 signed by the Uzbekistan President. The investment in the projects totals USD 883.7 million. The list includes the expansion of HSPA+ and LTE networks, fixed and wireless networks, the development of backbone and multi-service data transmission networks, the deployment of fibre-optic lines, the introduction of new multimedia-based services and creating conditions for content development. The amount of broadband ports is planned to increase by 120 percent, and the data transmission speed to grow 20-fold.
