Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) is proposing to postpone the introduction of mobile number portability (MNP) from 1 January 2016 to 1 January 2018, Tazabek reports. According to an announcement from the government, efforts to implement MNP in the beginning of 2016 may have a negative impact on the government’s priorities, causing ‘substantial damage to the reputation of the State’.
Once launched, MNP services will allow subscribers to retain their mobile number when moving between providers operating in the country, which include Megacom, Sky Mobile (Beeline) and Nur Telecom (O!).
