As part of effort to support small businesses, Ecobank Nigeria through its SME Club has launched an e-commerce platform known as 'Mymall'. The bank also provided capacity development to its customers.
The bank through its SME Club also offers specialised training and capacity development for its customers in conjunction with Pan-Atlantic University's Enterprise Development Center (EDC). Customers who enrol to this platform would have a dedicated manager, ability to customise their online shop/space and also enjoy the benefit of delivery logistics by the bank.
Speaking at the launch of the platform in Lagos recently, The Deputy Managing Director, Ecobank, Mr. Anthony Okpanachi said: "This is an opportunity for our SME customers and clients to interact. Ecobank 'mymall' is a website where customers can host and sell their goods and services. Again it is a way of giving access to our customers to be able to reach out to customers across Nigeria."
On what prompted the bank to create this platform, he said: "Every customer wants convenience and also it is all about easy access to do your transactions. The days when people go into physical malls and offices have gone by. Giving that, we know that E-commerce is the way to go. It is also more convenient for both customers and buyers."
Okpanachi further said: "We are creating a platform for our customers who necessarily do not have to have their own website. They can use 'mymall' as a shopping portal for the, to display their goods and services. We also provide the payment platform for them so they don't need to invest in infrastructure and payment solutions."
"As a bank, our outreach is wide within Nigeria and we are currently in 36 African countries so we make it possible to reach outside Nigeria. The next level would be how we can arrange payments across borders, which is something we are going to look at. This would enhance their business," he added.
