Completing its expansion across Southern Europe, Netflix has inked a distribution deal with Vodafone in Portugal.
The subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform will now be included in Vodafone's pay-TV platform in the country from 4 November.
The agreement is similar to those announced in September in Spain and Italy which aim to increase Netflix's visibility and distribution as a complement to traditional pay-TV.
In Spain, the deal recently offered a six-month free subscription, but no similar move is expected yet for Italy and Portugal.
Vodafone is the fourth largest player in Portugal's pay-TV market with a 5.9% share, far below the leader Nos, Portugal Telecom and cable TV operator Cabovisão.
Netflix's catalogue in Portugal is larger than in the other Southern European countries, in which the American platform had already sold the rights to its most famous series. Productions like Orange Is the New Black, Narcos, Marco Polo and the movie Beasts of No Nation are included in the portfolio.
