Ericsson has announced that it will support Brazil’s shift towards 5G mobile technology, while, as part of a wider strategy to enable Brazil’s digital agenda, the vendor has confirmed that it will bring the first 5G test system to Brazil during 2016. Ericsson’s 5G test system, which is being implemented with America Movil (AM) – which operates in the country via its Claro Brasil subsidiary – has been designed to allow telecoms operators and ecosystem partners such as academic institutions, health care, energy and agriculture players to test 5G capabilities in a live network. In addition, Ericsson and AM will also deploy a test system for the Internet of Things (IoT), enabling Brazilian industries and the public sector to prepare for the 5G transformation.
